THIS WEEK’S EVENTS:
There’s still a lot of fun things happening at the Farmers Market! Get ready to bring and swing your partner because the Square Dancers will be here! They will show us all how it’s done and then invite us to give it a try. What a great way to celebrate autumn’s arrival square dancing while surrounded by friends, apples and pumpkins! Watercolor artist, Anna Marie Mahler will be on hand with her sweet chocolate lab, Cicely, and her paints. If you are planning ahead for next spring’s garden, stop by and see our Master Gardener, Mary Lou Beckett. She’ll give you information on how to take a soil sample for testing. On the 29th, she’ll take your soil sample, test it right there at the Market and give you the results. And, as always, our Farmers Market Jammers will lift your spirits with their fun music. Bring your instrument and/or your singin’ voice and join in!

OUR VENDOR OF THE WEEK: Anita Vandagrifft will be this week’s featured vendor. She is new to our market this season. She sells colorful soy candles. If you are visiting her booth when the timer rings, you’ll get a coupon!

REPORT FROM LAST WEEK’S MARKET: We wore our sweatshirts while setting up as the sun rose on the Market. It turned out to be a lovely morning. We had 50 vendors brave the chilly weather. We registered 3 vendors from Huron, St. Anthony and West Baden. We had a whopping 14 volunteers who showed up to help us with our tasks. (By the way, if you are interested in spending time with friendly folks while volunteering to do simple tasks, we’d love to have you. Just give us a call at 723-5877 and ask for Alice.) Many folks are still taking advantage of the autumn produce still available at the Market. We even had visitors from Florida and Virginia. The talented musicians of Box of Chocolates made great music at the south end of the market while our Farmers Market Jammers played away all morning at the north end. It was Park Appreciation Day at the Market. All of the donations we collected from our Buck-a-Book sales and at the Host Tent totaling $181.81 will be given to the Town of Orleans in appreciation for allowing us use of the beautiful park. We’ll ask the Town to use the money for park upkeep.

FABULOUS NEWS!
Hoosier Hills Credit Union has once again shown their support for our farmers market and our beloved Farmers Market Jammers. They are providing us with funds to purchase t-shirts and caps for our dedicated Jammers to wear when they share their talents with us. Our neighbors, J & S Sportswear, will make up the t-shirts and caps with HomeGrown’s logo. Thank you, Hoosier Hills Credit Union!

OTHER GREAT FEATURES AT THE MARKET: Be sure to stop by and see our new BUCK A BOOK/BOOK A BOOK TRAILOR where you can browse a great selection of books. We welcome the donations of books for the book trailer. All of the money from book sales goes to support Orange County HomeGrown Farmers Market (Orleans). Just bring the books to the BUCK A BOOK/BOOK A BOOK TRAILOR and choose a book for free. Visit us at the Host Tent and have a free cup of coffee courtesy of our neighbor, Maple Street Restaurant. We are fortunate to have friendly, helpful MASTER GARDENERS at every market. Bring your gardening questions to the MASTER GARDENER TABLE and they will be very happy to help you! Learn more about the LOST RIVER COMMUNITY CO-OP which will be opening a new grocery store in Paoli this fall. You’ll be able to get a sneak preview of what the store, LOST RIVER MARKET & DELI, will look like and see its floor plan. You can even sign up to be a member!
