THIS WEEK’S EVENTS:
It’s pizza grilling time! Alice will show you how to use your grill and the produce you buy at the market to make the best pizza this side of anywhere! There will be free samples and copies of the recipe while supplies last. Bonnie Burton-Taylor will return with her dancing shoes to show us how to salsa! Events begin around 10:00. And, as always, we’ll have fun music provided by our own Farmers Market Jammers! Bring your instrument and/or your singing voice and join in.
SPECIAL REQUEST:
The Buck-a-Book Trailer is in need of some used classics for the adults. Please consider clearing off your bookshelves and donating books. Thanks a heap!
OUR VENDOR OF THE WEEK: Rachel Hays will be our featured vendor this week. She is one of our most popular bakers. She and her husband, Nick, also grow organic vegetables. Rachel is making the pizza dough and pesto for the grilled pizza demo and will also have some available for purchase. If you are visiting her booth when the timer rings, you’ll get a coupon!
REPORT FROM LAST WEEK’S MARKET: It seemed that everyone was so glad for the break in the hot weather that they all showed up at the Market for Customer Appreciation Day. We had 58 vendors and registered one new vendor. Several of our vendors sold out before closing time. We welcomed two new volunteers. At 10:00, we had 189 visitors! Visitors from North Carolina, Michigan, Arkansas, many parts of Indiana and even London, England signed our guest book. Sixty-six customers won prizes (produce, baked goods and crafts) donated by our generous vendors for Customers Appreciation. Vendor Kathy Gifford made a mountain of brownies for visitors to snack on along with coffee donated by our good neighbors Maple Street Restaurant. They must have been pretty darn good ‘cause the platter was empty by the time the Market closed. Visitors and vendors enjoyed music by Wildflowers and Weeds and our own Farmers Market Jammers. Lost River Market & Deli, the new food co-op, signed up their 300th member at the Market!
